Situated just 30 miles south of Calais, and you reach a lovely unspoiled area of North France. Drive past Boulogne-sur-Mer 15 miles from Calais,  and then find the area round Hardelot-Plage.

 

There is so much to see and do for all age groups. Starting with children, lovely sandy beaches, with play areas. Amusement parks, like Bagatelle (fun for all the family actually). An  easy 40 minute drive.

 

The local goat farm at Wigwirnes where children can help "milk" the goats. The cheese and milk is "cru" or raw. It is only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It is fun petting the very tame goats. In late February the babies start arriving, see them from days old. Children can see nature at its' very best. I admit I love visiting there too, so relaxing seeing happy animals.

 

 

History of both world wars, see the V2 rocket launching site in Mimoyecques, near the coast just north of Boulogne. the fortress is a living place for bats, the most important hibernation site in the North of France.

 

The chocolate factory in Beussent is a chocolate lovers paradise, the smell as you enter makes your mouth water. 

 

 

The underground caves of Naours are interesting, hollowed out from 1300 and used in both wars to house the army. 

 

 

Then on to adults. Numerous golf courses.  Hardelot-Plage has 2 golf courses, depending on which property you are in it takes between 2 minutes and 15 minutes to drive to. Further 2 courses in Le Touquet, Nampont, St Omer and Wimereux. Possible to get the golf passport so you can play at several courses at a good price.
